Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Sean N — 01 Jun 2017
It's an Alien movie.
Expect eruptions of gore splattered xenomorphs, a steely and capable female lead, and androids that are both more and less than they appear.
There are several iterations of the alien in the film, all horrific and skittery, but the most terrifying thing in the movie is the android, David, and his diabolic ambitions. Fassbender turns in another solid performance as both David, and Walter, a later generation synthetic who accompanies the crew of the colony ship. The rest of the cast are adequate, but you won't remember them or their characters an hour after the end of the film. The female lead is no Ellen Ripley, but gets the job done.
(Potential Spoiler here, read at your own risk).
The biggest question is this: How, if the Creators were destroyed before the evolution of the "face huggers" , is it possible that Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo find a Creator ship, piloted by one of the Creators, chock full of the little buggers?
