Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Jason D — 02 Jun 2017
This is one of my all time favorite franchises. So by saying I was excited for this movie would be an understatement. "Alien" and "Aliens" are about as near perfect of movies that you can get.
I really like and am a huge defender of "Prometheus" as well. What Ridley Scott did here, bridging the originals with "Prometheus" was a good as I thought anyone could have done. This movie is absolutely gorgeous looking and no one, in my opinion, films sci fi action like Ridley Scott.
I found myself lost in this world and totally invested in what was going on. Michael Fassbender is one of my Favorites working today and is spectacular here playing two roles. The most awesome part for me was that I finally got to see a Xenomorph on the big screen.
Facehuggers, chestbursters, and a backburster! This film has everything for an "Alien" fan. The blood and gore was so satisfying as well. A few complaints I have are, all the alien stuff did not happen until the last 1/3 of the movie, and the characters are never really developed, outside of David.
I also would like to praise Danny McBride for his performance and I am becoming such a big fan of Katherine Waterston's. This lady will be getting a lot of work in the future. So, even if you are only a casual fan of the franchise, do not wait for this one, it needs to be experienced on the big screen!
