Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Quintin S — 29 Jun 2017
A modicum better than Prometheus, the far too little Alien film lacked in a few areas.
First and foremost was the story. The tie ins it made to the original movie and Prometheus were very shoddily laid. There was no tie in needed, could have been so badass had it been a straight up Alien movie, no holier than thou nonsensical plot, just straight fucking forward Aliens killing characters that we don't know, except for the 3 central characters we start to love, then see get obliterated by a Xenomorph.
The Alien action was cool as fuck, my one and only complaint was it lacked practical effects. CG was in such heavy abundance with the creatures, it needn't be. When the Xenomorphs are done right, there is nothing scarier.
That Fassbender/Fassbender fight made me laugh. The whole time watching I am replaying the Bathroom Terminator fight from Rise Of The Machines.
Also the big reveal after the fighter was weaker than am M. Night twist.
