Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by E Sidney M — 25 Aug 2017
Lesson to learn... if Ridley Scott or James Cameron aren't in the director's chair, skip the next "Alien" installment. This tone deaf unnecessarily gooey and bloody trip has too many unbelievable internal logic lapses to hold off disbelief.
Several good performances are wasted by being subjected to implausibilities (visiting a mysterious, heretofore unvisited planet and breathing the air without protection?), mass in-your-face gore and a repetitive lack of believable protocol.
The end is so predictable, and depressing that you're left exhausted, ticked off and insulted after the overlong movie stutters to its completion.
