Review of Alice in Wonderland (1951) by John E — 12 Jan 2011
It's a helluva lot better than Tim Burton's version, that's for sure. Disney's animation team rose to the challenge of adapting their animation to the books' episodic qualities, which means each scene and character Alice encounters feels discrete and self-contained; yet Alice does manage to keep moving forward to follow the White Rabbit, so we are treated to Disney marriage of music and animation that makes each of her encounters brief and special.
