Review of Alexander (2004) by Dawn A — 13 Jul 2010
Despite being told this film is crap, I still wanted to see it for myself. I guess once in a while all those bandwagon reviews and critiques were right.
The film's main flaw is that it is extremely slow-paced. The narration scenes were completely unneeded there. Instead of telling us about what happened, they could've showed in a few brief scenes.
Even though the film is 3 hours long, I can still tolerate films of this length, so long as they have interesting content. But this film like I said was dragging. And on top of that there were only 2 battle scenes throughout full 3 hours, the first one of which was very mediocre. So the only entertaining scene for action lovers was closer to the end.
The acting was all right I guess, although there was a bit too much of pointless dialogue, which was unneeded.
All in all, watch at your own risk. If you are a fan of epics like I am, you might not necessarily like this film, since it's very slow paced and consists mostly of chatting instead of action.
