This is a "teens in highschool" romantic comedy, with weird and funny nerdy stuff in it, true, but it's not the absurd over the top kind and it's not the focus of this movie anyway. What makes this a great movie, which it really is, is how genuine things feel. It's relatable, the characters feel real, the romance is cute, the sexing is awkward as it should be at that age, and the emotional notes in this the movie really had me fighting against the tears, because they felt so real and relatable. They really catch the essence of what people go through in complex romantic situations. I also really love how this movie spreads a message of acceptance, that it is perfectly ok to be who you truly are, and that even though some kids are giant dicks, now more than ever most kids are really open to peoples differences, "you do you, it's all cool".

I really agree with the tomatometer and audience score. For the nice little film that it is, this really hits home a current, modern feeling, it understands the current teenage zeitgeist and works with that wonderfully.

Great comedy, really laughed out loud a few times.

Believable, relatable characters, even the side-characters to the extent that we get to see their points of view.

Heartfelt, cute romance.

Relatable, tearworthy, believable moments of drama.

A great message but not on the nose.

And yeah: cute girls and cute guys.

Five stars, wouldn't change a thing.
