Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Ron C — 06 Feb 2012
This movie could have been better, but considering how the other 2 movies I saw the same day sucked, it was a pleasure to see this. Nothing too spectacular about it, but I do appreciate the fact that transgenders are portrayed as heroes.
I respect Glenn Close for making this movie, even if her main motivation was probably to win an Oscar. There's Best Actress nomination written all over this role. I think Glenn Close did a good job, although her character, Albert Nobbs, isn't exactly the most dynamic character; the only really interesting thing about him is that he was born a woman.
That shouldn't be the only reason why a story is compelling.
