Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Lori B — 21 May 2012
Stellar acting and terrific set design cannot save this movie from its unfortunate script. It has moments of great light and tenderness, which make it not quite a waste of time, but the end is so contrived that I'm still angry about it two weeks after having seen the film.
It doesn't help that most of the characters are barely drawn at all. Janey McTeer is quite good in an important supporting role.
