Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Michael M — 23 Nov 2012
The poor folks of Dullsville Ireland - all stricken so blind they can't even tell that Glenn Close is not a man - nor Janet McTeer who is about as convincing as a bear in a tutu as her fellow cross-dresser in crime.
Part of the problem is that both are known quantities - and the big reveal is a non-starter. So what else does this slow-paced film have on it's mind? Well, not much. It meanders hither and yon for two hours, showcasing Pauline Collins (SHIRLEY VALENTINE in her heyday) and playing on our DOWNTON affections.
But in the end, it's quite a feckin' bore.
