One of my favorite good-bad disaster movies. Seriously, I could watch these things anytime. They make me so happy. This one has an amazing cast, Jack Lemmon, Joseph Cotton, Darren McGavin, Olivia de Havilland, Kathleen Quinlan, Christopher Lee, and fricken Jimmy Stewart! Most of them have little to nothing to do except look scared, but still.
The best parts are definitely when pilot Jack Lemmon and engineer Darren McGavin are together. After Jack Lemmon heroically goes out to send a distress signal, the movie falters a bit, even though the big rescue attempt is still ahead.
I love this film so much, it's wrong.
