Review of Airheads (1994) by Michael T — 18 Jan 2009
This film was released just 3 years after "Smells Like Teen Spirit" had become a hit, started the alternative rocke explosion of the early 1990s, and killed off the Sunset Strip hair metal scene that the protaganists of this movie are part of.
I guess that they had the script and wanted to film it before the last vestiges of hair metal died off. Now, grunge is a fading memory and all those eighties bands are making a comeback in a wave of eighties nostalgia, but this film was too late to be included as a time capsule of that era.
Its kind of fun with Brendan Fraser playing a funny lunkhead and Steve Buscemi getting to wear hair extensions and play another lunkhead (and he doesn't get shot by anyone).
