Review of Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer (2003) by Alex C — 28 May 2012
There was one interesting point made by Broomfield, that the death penalty is an ineffective deterrent to murder. I can't think of any U.S. serial killers who ever considered something along the lines of "oh, I shouldn't kill anyone in THIS state, they have the death penalty!" And that Jeb Bush's stay of execution for psychiatric evaluation was BS, or at least the evaluation was.
By the end of the documentary I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth. It's my hope that Wuornos was not only brought to justice, but that she has also gained a measure of redemption through this film.
