Review of Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer (2003) by Josh M — 14 Mar 2009
Haunting. Yes, there's some hypocrisy here, as Broomfield accuses everyone of trying to make money off of Aileen, yet obviously does so himself; still, his sympathy for--and rage at--her plight gives the film a needed human side.
It's painful, yes, but also compelling, not only for its attacks on the justice system, but also for its portrait of a sad, lost soul.
