Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Luc L — 29 Aug 2013
"A.I." is one of those movies, when people talked about it, if they hate it or they love it. Some love it for Osment's committed performance as David or some hated it, they wish the movie was more or it didn't answer some of the big questions in the movie.
Even Spielberg fans felt it was one of his worst movies. A truly fascinating underrated science fiction drama by Spielberg, who also wrote the script. I think, it is a matter of personal taste. Since originally Kubrick was going to directed this after "Eyes Wide Shut".
Kubrick died days shortly after he was done with his directorial work. I think, it is a deeply moving movie that manages to be moving thanks to Osment's role. Since Osment's character truly wants to be a real boy really bad, since his human mother (O`Connor) does show some affection for him.
Some critics felt it was a real mess that Spielberg tried to touch on Kurbick's visual style. Which he does successful for the most part mixed with Spielberg's own warm hearted style. Which the picture seems odd, when both of the style touches together in scenes.
There is some humour, thanks to Teddy (Voiced by Jack Angel) as a supertoy and Jude Law as a robot gigolo, who befriends with David. Probably the most controversial movie of 2001. Some critics put it on their top 10 list.
Some critics really hated it. Fans of Spielberg and Kubrick had mixed opition of this movie for years. For me, it is one of Spielberg's best movies and I think, it is his most underrated work to date.
One of Spielberg's personal movies. Judge it for yourself, even if you hated it. You have to admit that this movie is fascinating to watch.
