Review of Agora (2009) by Karen M — 20 Aug 2010
Something unusual. A thinking persons flic. Not much action, not much romance, and not a mystery/thriller. The film examines the age-old conflicts between various religous factions and the world of science. All of the religous factions take turns handing out cruelty to one another; just like they do today. A timely topic. Of course, its always timely. We know where the movie is going, but we dont know the route. The story held my interest. All the principal actors are very good. Rachel Weisz is excellent.
Did not know the early Christians burned the library at Alexandria.
