I knew nothing of Hypatia going in to this. And I was absolutely blown away. I'm still reeling.
I think I love this movie because I am an atheist. It's not about the people in this (although Rachel Weisz gave an outstanding performance as Hypatia, and there was much to like in the supporting actors). It's about the defense of reason. It's about the Library of Alexandria. I got shivers of Carl Sagan through my spine when we first saw the stacks of scrolls, and my eyes welled with tears.
