Review of Agora (2009) by Ethan T — 09 Apr 2011
This film is about the female philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria. During the time of Roman influence in Egypt, paganism went from being preferrential, to being illegal. The Christians rose up out of their persecution and got their own back by destroying the statues, libraries, and temples that paid homage to Greek and Roman gods.
There's a lot of violence in this tale of darker times. An interesting role for Rachel Weisz.
