Review of Agora (2009) by Liliana C — 16 Apr 2011
Agora, Alejandro Amenábar's masterpiece, relates the story of Hypatia, the first known woman scholar of Alexandria. Dedicated to teaching and research in Philosophy, Mathematics and Astronomy, Hypatia attracted students from all creeds and nationalities.
She educated the next generation of rulers. However, Hypatia became the easy target of religious zealots who could not bear the thought she was a powerful woman who was not afraid of tell her truth in public.
She was killed by a "Christian" mob manipulated by local politicians. I highly recommend it!
