Review of Agneepath (2012) by Arijit M — 28 Jan 2012

Amazing watch... Hrithik has done far better than even Amitabh for his time..... If the original Agneepath was a classic, I would call Agneepath 2012 a super classic... Extremely well directed by Karan malholtra... A great debut movie for him.... Although the macro story remains almost the same... a lot of changes are made with Rishi Kapoor's character being a major change... The intensity of the scenes in the movie is simply mind blowing, always keeping you at the edge of your seat...

The movie is fast paced, smarter, with stronger characters, and music background is always building the thrill in almost every scene in the movie...

For all those who watched the original Agneepath, do not go to watch this movie solely with the purpose of judging Hrithik's character.... It's very diffrent from Amitabh's... Although the basic plot remains the same, Hrithik's character of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan is far more refined, romantic, smart and more like someone you will easily relate to... a very boy-next-door image lets you admire him even more.... There is obviously a different charm to Amitabh's raw, reckless & stubborn character in the original Agneepath... But what is admirable about Hrithik and more so of the director, is that they have not tried to even indulge in imitating the legendary character of VDC...

Priyanka Chopra has done a fairly good role aswell, and her dancing skills have improved considerably probably in the shadows of Hrithik Roshan & Katrina Kaif... The Chikni Chameli item number seemed pretty pointless, but obviously will serve the purpose of attracting a targeted audience for whom it was intended for...

All in all, the movie has the potential of earning the highest profit at the box office beating movies like Bodyguard, Ready, Dabaang with ease....

Agneepath 2012 deserves a 7.8/10 for a remake that was never a commercial hit.
