Review of Age of the Dragons (2011) by Gatis G — 18 Mar 2011
Moby Dick with dragons has so much potential, yet sadly this is not the film to fulfill this potential. Part of the appeal of Moby Dick is its sea bound setting and the inherent danger of life at sea, sadly that is all lost in this landlocked film.
Glover is far better than the material he is given here and whilst I can see the appeal in the role, after all Gregory Peck turned in an acclaimed performance in the 1956 adaptation, but in this instance Glover isn't given enough to work with.
The rest of the supporting cast are bland, lifeless and severely lacking inpersonality, in fact the only actor who adds any personality to the film is Vinnie Jones. Once he departs the picture there is very little reason to keep watching, a sentence I never thought I would ever write.
