A classic 80's and a guilty pleasure starring the always good actor jeff bridges as an ex-quaterback Terry Brogan who best years are behind him even though he still tries out every year but keep gets turned down by the owner of the miami dolphins and who happens to be a corrupt and slimy rich billionaire who doesnt like him at all and could care less if he's killed. When the rich billionbaires wife's daughter has gone missing, enters James woods as jake Wise, an la club night owner and thug who has worked with the rich billionaire in the past hires terry to find his missing girlfriend and who happens to be the daughter of the wife of the rich billioaire. A few days earlier Jake's girlfriend stabbed him and ran away with his money now he wants terry to find her and bring her back is willing to reward him handsomely if he does the job. Terry accepts it and quickly fidns out where she is hiding out on an island and falls madly in love with her.Her name is jesee wyler, an fiercley independant woman who quickly alls for him. But when the coach of the miami dolphins and very good friend to terry arrives to island withn a gun and hired to kill terry by the billionaire and to bring Jesse home things go out of control and the coach ends up dead and Terry ends up injured. In the end Jesse and terry are confronted by the billioanire and his goons and terry's old friend and thug Jake wise. Will he get the girl in the end.? Will they live or die? That is what youll have to watch to find out.

With a beautiful score from phill collins and his breakthrough single against all odds, some wonderful performances from jeff bridges, james woods, rachel ward and the great richard widmark who starred in the oreginal kiss of death, a very good script and good direction from director taylor hackford makes this a time please and worth watching.

Worth buying.

Ps. it is also a modern remake of the 1947 masterpiece Out of The Past.
