Review of Against All Odds (1984) by Stewart F — 30 Jun 2010
Not a patch on the original. This is more like a poor run-of-the-mill TV movie. Although Jeff Bridges and James Woods are excellent, the script is useless - there's no suspense. The story is just weak and implausible.
They would have done better to have stuck closer to the original. What made "Out of the Past" such a great movie was Jane Greer's Femme Fatale - as the film progresses you gradually realise what a bitch she is, and just how ruthless she is.
In this film, Rachel Ward's character is just a spoilt, hysterical rich kid.
