Review of After the Wedding (2006) by Radek C — 29 Mar 2009
I've started to appreciate Danish cinematography, they seem to know how to shoot solid and believable dramas. There's really much going on in this one, story-wise mainly. First of all, the plot itself - a powerful beginning and a touching follow-up, then it slows down and just moves towards the end.
Mikkelsen proves he's a versatile actor - he's equally convincing as a baddie and as a dramatic character. The orchestral music was also a great addition. And it's all nice, but one thing really annoyed me - it was director's style of shooting and pointless, in my opinion, focusing on somebody's eye, hand, tear or lips.
Perhaps, she clumsily tried to intensify our perception, as a result, it looked as if she didn't know what to do with the camera. Anyway, it was good watch.
