Review of After the Dark (2013) by Ammar Z — 02 May 2014
This is one of the better movies I have watched recently. I can go on and highlight this movie's shortcomings but as a respect to this new take on the genre I wont do that. With different roles assigned to each participating student, the thought experiments on the end of the world set the stage nicely for a very interesting an hour and a half.
James Darcy plays his part really well, a philosophy teacher who reasons with sound logic and wants his students to do the same. But as things pan out, these students are not for his rigid and emotionless decision making which is a prerequisite for survival through an apocalypse.
We are made to realize the bigger picture that surviving an apocalypse is not about living for as long as you can but to live life to fullest and with caring for friends and others. So that when the time to die comes your conscience is at peace about the decisions you made.
A good movie, have given it 4 stars and it should be on everybody's movie list because you will enjoy it.
