Review of After Hours (1985) by James M — 23 Nov 2009
A Martin Scorsese gem, although it nearly wasn't. Tim Burton was original choice to direct, but dropped out when Scorsese's name was attached to the project.
This black comedy is one of the best undiscovered movies of the 80's. Joseph Minion's screenplay, which he apparently wrote for a screenwriting class, is agog with good humour. It's a shame that Griffin Dunne's career now lies in the 'Where Are They Now' pile of showbiz. After Hours is a must for all Scorsese fans.
