Ultimately it is about a boy coming of age and finding himself. However, the boy just acts so stupid for someone who wants to live up to his father's expectation. The acting is pretty bad. The story isn't original and the acting made the story feel worse.
It doesn't make you feel any sympathy for the boy. In fact, you keeping wishing for the boy to bite the dust. The special effects are good but they don't help the movie out one bit.
