The story concept was nice, but Jaden Smith does not have daddy's talent for acting. Honestly I'm not certain if it's a lack of Jaden's talent or M. Night Shyamalan's lack of directorial skills - it could be a combination of both.

After Sixth Sense, Shyamalan has yet to put out a single good movie. The concept of After Earth is an interesting one and the story isn't horrible, but told through Shyamalan's direction and Jaden Smith very young, inexperienced acting skills, this was just a horrible production.

I really wanted it to be so much better than it actually was. All I learned was that Shyamalan still sucks horribly at directing movies and if Will Smith wants every day to be "bring your kid to work day," then maybe he should try Jaden in less prominent roles or perhaps even check out some behind the camera options to be successful in the industry.
