Review of After Earth (2013) by Danni B — 10 Mar 2014

I felt like Will Smiths character watching this, it was a struggle to stay conscious.

Pretty much a collection of Sci fi cliches badly done and without the self knowing of some of the more recent and much better monster movies.

Also, perhaps my attention waned but was it explained why Earth's climate had changed or why a Tsunami had obliterated the whole planet or why there were giant eagles and 101 other things that seemed to make no sense whatsoever?

Whether it was or not this is a dumb movie made for a dumb audience which wouldn't be such a sin if it at least entertained.

Even the idea of a genetically modified creature engineered to hunt humans by scenting fear pheromones is logically flawed. After all you can't be afraid of something unless it has already found you for you to be afraid of it so it is the most useless and illogical of plot devices. The movies answer was for the creature to randomly stake dead bodies in the hope they would be found and induce fear - how it can find a dead body I have no idea since the dead aren't particularly fearful as far as I know. I could go on but this movie has drained all my enthusiasm for anything. The more I write the more I realise I hate it for taking away my time which would of been better spent lighting farts or something.

Avoid this movie.
