Review of Æon Flux (2005) by James S — 12 Jan 2010
Admittedly, this film is a little on the messy side but you have to give its due for still managing to be surprisingly good.
Charlie Theron is the eponymous kinda psychic secret agent type, assassin person embroiled in a world where no one has been born for centuries....or something. It doesn't sound like it, but Aeon Flux does actually have a decent structure and plot arc to the whole thing which makes the film compelling nonsense. Theron looks the part as the leather clad Flux and the supporting cast of mainly British actors are all commendable if a little on the wooden side.
Everything about this film does scream that it shouldn't work but a healthy dose of action, some good twists and turns in the story and a cast able to pull off the ridiculous make a major salvage job to save what turns out to be a rather neat film.
