Review of Ae Fond Kiss... (2004) by Private U — 07 May 2009

I really enjoyed this movie. Part of that is due to the fresh feel of a movie made outside of the Hollywood mainstream. When I say in my profile that I have a penchant for indie flicks, I guess this is what I mean.

While the story unfolds in a rather conventional way, underneath it all is a real story being told, one based in the realities of our world. It's goal is not to be cute or even to change society. It is not constructed to make a point, but is simply a slice of real life.

The actions of the characters ring true, and their story is one which is worth seeing. There is nothing fake or forced about the movie, and that is why it works.
