Review of Adventureland (2009) by Jeff S — 04 Dec 2011
The first half of this film was SOOOOOOOO boring. I felt like I had ADD; no matter how hard I tried, I was simply unable to pay attention. However, the second half really turned it around. The characters actually got interesting, the plot actually borderlined on the original, and the gags didn't fall on deaf ears.
This movie was ready for a fail after the first 45 mins., but I'll give it a pass; it somehow managed to be sweet and heartwarming while still retaining its slice-of-life identity. And keep in mind that above and beyond everything, Adventureland is a film about growing up (in the 80's), and you will truly feel that you have grown up with these characters by the time the ending credits roll.
