Review of Adrift (2018) by Mark P — 20 Jun 2018
Whether Paul's shipwreck (Acts 27) or Jonah's deep dive in a whale (Jonah 2); the sea is a ferocious monster. We can hardly fathom the power of a huge storm until it hits #HurricaneHarvey The Titanic (1912), & Edmund Fitzgerald (1975) both sank violently and produced wonderful art in tribute to those lost to "icewater mansions".
The Perfect Storm took down the Andrea Gail in 1991 and the hurricane "Raymond" destroyed the vessel of an engaged couple of lovers traveling from Tahiti to San Diego in 1983. The story centers on a heroine Tami Ashcraft and her struggle to survive adrift for over 41 days.
The storm scenes are harrowing, frightening, disturbing, etc. The power of the earth's oceans which cover 70% of the globe is astronomically more than we can even imagine; until, you're lost at sea! I give the movie 4**** out of 5stars.
The one "demerit" (negative point) will be obvious to you at the movie's conclusion.
