Review of Adoration (2013) by Brook Y — 10 Sep 2013
Adore... First off, I adore Naomi Watts. She is am incredibly gifted actress. It was great seeing the believable friendship between her character, Lil, and Robin Wright's character, Roz.
The story spans years of their bonding and growing families. The death of Lil's unseen husband halts Lil's love life. She and her son go on and continue to become an extending part of Roz's family with their sons bonding.
Tensions is Roz's long and stagnant married cause her eyes to wander to the young study flesh of Lil's son. They begin a torrid affair and when Roz's son discovers them he decides to pursue the fragile Lil.
Each woman carries on the affairs until they are all discovered. Ironically, they decide to try and make it work. Life gets in the way and when one of the boys decides to carry on with a girl his age, they all break it off. But the chemistry and connections are strong and bonds are life lasting.
While the acting is good, the story slowly slumps along and you never quite know where it is going to go but not in a good way. The movie starts to feel long as in when is it going to end. Not many pay offs in the sense of verbal battles over the seedy topic but new twists were implemented which almost makes up for it.
The scenery is beautiful as are the actors.
All is all this movie was enjoyable to watch. Great score. But just feels long. A good flick for a lazy Sunday rental.
