When a movie so firmly rejects to release on the level of plot, what we are left with is tone. "Adore" is about that being in a place where nobody knows you or wants to know you, and you are thumped by your nothingness.
There was a world where it was important that Naomi Watts was Naomi Watts and Robin Wright was Robin Wright. In the ocean among friends, it is not even essential that Lil be Lil and Roz be Roz.
