Review of Adoration (2009) by Ryan L — 27 Apr 2009
It's been a long time since I last saw a movie that really made me think long and hard right after the credits finished rolling. atom egoyan's "adoration" left me deep in thought, actually even while in the midst of watching it, my mind was on hyperdrive, taking all the story in and trying to make out a lot of the subtext.
what I loved most about it was how, after a carefully devised setup, the last 1/3 of the story finally reveals its "real self" after you are led to believe for the first 2/3 of what it might be.
cinematography was really great, the texture of his wide shots were beautifully captured. and the acting, my gosh! the girl who played 'sabine' was just amazing! but all in all, it was a really good one for me, and it truly taught me that nothing is really what it seems, nor is it otherwise =).
