Review of Ad Astra (2019) by Dubeau — 23 Sep 2019
Ad Astra was fairly good but not excellent. I found the story derivative of Sunshine, yet with less effects and quality. The acting was just ok. I didn't think the emotions were correctly transmitted by the movie and the dialogues.
The effects were fine but since Gravity and Interstellar, it was lacking some degree of realism in terms of lighting, clarity and camera works. The motivation of the father and why he couldn't fix a problem, and cut communications, makes absolutely no sens.
It's a big plot hole for me. I really like the moon sections the best. I give 60%. It's a well done movie but the story wasn't that solid or logical.
