Pretty good noir picture that reminds me of another movie I was just watching: Part 1 of THE HUMAN CONDITION. Both movies are about scared men who let other good men die during war, but then redeem themselves in unpleasant ways.
Maybe without the image of THE HUMAN CONDITION in my head I wouldn't have found this movie as interesting, but I thought the treatment of this theme was pretty well-done.
