Review of Act of Violence (1949) by Douglas P — 07 Sep 2008
Unique noir that instead focuses on a bank job or a femme fatale, this story deals with a potential war crime. My boy Robert Ryan plays a crippled war veteran stalking a war hero who has the perfect Suburban life (played by Van Helflin).
This film exposes the guilt and faultless conviction of the war hero who has some rust on his array of war medals. The last half hour of the film is a desolate bout as Heflin and Ryan are caught in a chase through Los Angeles, and the scumbags and broken-hearts they encounter truly add dimension to this film.
