Review of Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) by Francesco V — 16 Feb 2010
You know most sequals suck... hard. Well Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls says NO SPANK YOU and gives us a great sequal (good god that was corny). Anyway the story is Ace Ventura is hired to find a bat that was lost by a tribe. However if the bat isn't found in time war will be waged with another tribe (apperently the bat is sacred and it prevents the war). Now I like the plot in theory a lot but it is a bit convoloted in execution. It's by no means bad but it's just a bit confusing. Now one downgrade with this movie is besides Ace none of the characters are very memrable. Agian there not bad it's just I don't remember them that much. Now the humor is just as good as the last movie, with some jokes more memrable then the characters. One thing surprising is Jim Carry is actually in this movie. Seriously out of 5 sequals (including another Ace Ventura I might see one time) this is the only sequal he's been in, and thank god he is because his acting really makes most of the jokes work which shows how great he is. the other cast members are okery, no one is really bad and no one besides Carry is really good. this is the cast.
Jim Carrey - Ace Ventura.
Ian McNeice - Fulton Greenwall.
Simon Callow - Vincent Cadby.
Maynard Eziashi - Ouda.
Bob Gunton - Burton Quinn.
Sophie Okonedo - The Wachati Princess.
Arsenio "Sonny" Trinidad - Ashram Monk.
Danny D. Daniels - Wachootoo Witch Doctor.
Andrew Steel - Mick Katie.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje - Hitu.
Dev Kennedy - Dad Tourist.
Tommy Davidson - The Tiny Warrior.
Patti Tippo - Mom Tourist.
Michael Reid Mackay - Skinny Husband.
Bruce Spence - Gahjii.
So Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is a very worthy sequal to a great classic.
