Review of Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) by Steve W — 07 Jan 2014
Ace Ventura is back!
This sequel to the hilarious Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is just as funny, but also very different. This installment is written by Steve Oedekerk, and really ramps up the "comedy" aspect of the genre. While the first had a solid plot, this movie is zany, more ridiculous, and completely wild.
Take for instance the fight scene, in which Ace gets two spears thrown into his legs. Its funny, but he's seen walking away fine in the next scene as they leave the village. Since this is more of a comedy, there's less danger.
But the film is not without its hilarity. There are just as many laugh out loud scenes throughout, my favourites are the robotic rhino, the fight, and Ace vs. a crocodile. Despite its change in tone, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is just as good as the first.
