Review of Accidental Love (2015) by Lauren V — 02 May 2015
This was an improbable comedy meant to spoof small town love, federal politics and the can-do spirit of the average American citizen fighting for a cause. The original reviews made it sound like the film was a hodgepodge of disjointed scenes leftover from when the project was shelved during the writers' strike.
It turns out that the result was a piece of sound editing. Everything flowed seamlessly start to finish. Now, the script was a bit weak but still funny thanks to its campy tone. This movie is Mars Attacks kind of funny, which is an acquired taste.
Both Marsden and Gyllenhaal are fun to watch play opposite Beal and each other. It's not cinematic genius but it is worth a watch.
