Review of Absentia (2011) by Jarrett M — 14 Apr 2012
Absentia is a low budget, but very slick horror/thriller. The plot is interesting, and although it moves at a slow pace, there is always something unexpected coming around the corner that will recapture your interest should it wander.
The cast devlivers quite good performances, although I wouldn't say that they are flawless. The effects in the film actually surprised me with their quality and effectiveness. In all I found this to be a remarkably effective film that works because of it's simplicity and effective storytelling rather than having a convoluted plot to try to stay one step ahead of you.
Definately worth a look for those looking for a horror/thriller that has a different feel than most, maintains a decent level of tension, and may actually creep you out at points. I recommend checking this one out.
