Review of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) by Josh K — 17 May 2013
The film is what it is: a B movie. Plain and simple. The film follows that concept and doesn't work against it. The film focuses on the fact that apparently Abraham Lincoln was in fact a vampire hunter and the Civil War was actually caused to battle vampires, who owned slaves in the South.
The film is silly at times, but does not back away from that. While Daniel Day-Lewis is the best actor to portray Abraham Lincoln in Spielberg's Lincoln, Benjamin Walker is a good choice for the role in this film, although Day-Lewis still stands as the best Lincoln.
The makeup in this film is well executed, as are the special effects and cinematography. In the end the film accomplishes the goal of being a silly B movie.
