Review of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) by Amihai U — 21 Jun 2013
How should I start? I appreciate that this film exists. I appreciate that we have the freedom to create legends out of real-life characters and turn them into folklore. I also appreciate that this we are fully aware that this is a fictional account, and that Lincoln was not actually a vampire hunter, but it would be pretty badass if he were.
Thus, I am here watching this movie. Stylistically, the imagery created by the filmmakers are stunning. Story-wise, sorry to say, there is not much to be admired. I liken it to a Twilight movie, but made for guys and approached with the aesthetics of a whiskey commercial.
I guess that's not exactly singing praises for this movie. That said, I appreciate it for what it is. P.S. just found out there is a book... now I am curious.
