Review of Able Edwards (2004) by Walter M — 31 Jan 2010
Interesting film, in that it was produced by Steven Soderbergh and is the first film shot entirely with green-screen environments. This is its point of interest, but also its downfall. The technology was not yet quite up to the task and the ideas meant to be conveyed are loftier than the cast and crew had the talent to pull off.
The acting is stiff, the writing barely inspired, and the direction seems to have come from a man in over his head. Still, it's worth checking out and if you're able (no pun intended) to step outside of the story and watch the film as just that, a film work, the subject matter concerning real v.
artificial becomes even more intriguing.
