Review of Abduction (2011) by Dalton M — 15 May 2012
I enjoyed this film. I remember being so excited when I first read what this movie was going to be about because if you think about it, it is a terifying concept. The storyline "was" amazing, the one thing that I would change about it was how it ended up being some espionage type thing.
I felt that they could have made a real thriiller, Disturbia type movie but instead they decided to go with a secret mission type thing and that did not really settle well with me. I'm not the "biggest" Taylor Lautner fan but I have to say he did an amazing job in this film.
His performance was a 10/10. He does great in the Twilight movies but there is just something about him that I cant really agree with but in this movie he was unbelievably amazing and real. Unfortunately the only other great performances were by Alfred Molina, Jason Issacs and Maria Bello.
Sigourney Weaver, good lord, I have never been more dissapointed in my life, she was horrible in this movie, the one line that she says in the movie "I hate balloons", actually almost makes me sick to my stomach.
Please come back to being the great actress that you are Sigourney. Lilly Collins I had never really seen in anything before this, she was not that impressive either but whatever, she's young, she has years and years of practice ahead of her and I am sure she will turn into an amazing actress.
The fight scenes were a little cheesy and unrealistic and even though Taylor did pretty much all of his own stunts, there was just something that seemed reeeally fake and choreographed about them all.
There were also a handful of cheesy lines...or maybe it was the way that the actors said them. "I hate balloons" ranks as the worst, followed by an unconvincing "Oh, I don't want to go to class" by Lilly Collins (as she raises her hand to the big headache that school is causing her).
All in all, a really good movie with an amazing performance given by Taylor Lautner, but not the best follow up performances and "some" cheesy fight scenes. You will "not" regret seeing this movie, it deserves to be seen and it deserves some pretty great reviews.
4/5.
