Review of Abduction (2011) by Sean H — 18 Mar 2014
I took a look at Abduction mainly due to the presence of one of my favourite actors Sigourney Weaver, who plays a psychiatrist helping the juvenile lead Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner), get over anger issues and a repetitive nightmare.
Whilst completing a school assignment with neighbour and would be girlfriend Karen ( Lilly Collins), he discovers baby photos on the internet, identifying him as a missing person. From this point, he begins to discover where his nightmares really came from and dragging his new flame along for the ride the dream of suburban bliss turns rapidly into a nightmare beyond anything they were prepared for.
This is not a film for adults, unless, like me you can suspend your critical faculties enough to enjoy the journey, which involves fantastically well equipped professional assassins and the CIA, of course, trying to catch him for their own reasons. There is consequently a lot of killing going on.
The film is peppered with the attraction process taking place between the two young stars and I only found that overwhelmingly slow only on two occasions. They look good together in the teen romance department and their intimate moments are most believable.
It is beautifully shot, a very nice music track, has great supporting star baddies who are quite believable in their roles and plot and action twists abound. It is not a lazy film and the action and fight sequences are very well choreographed. A very enjoyable romp, action thriller. Obviously not aimed at film critics, but good solid entertainment.
