Review of Abduction (2011) by Dave A — 19 Feb 2015
There are movies that tell stories. Some movies tell stories that people enjoy over and over again. Some movies are just showcases. Taylor Lautner's Abduction seems more like a showcase - a vehicle.
The movie doesn't really tell a story per se, it unfolds a premise. It all starts with a "What if?" What if everything you thought you knew turned out to be wrong? What if every thing about your life turned out to be a lie? Turning every thing upside down and putting a spin on everything is a great premise.
The actual story doesn't really appear until later in the film. This is a really good teen action adventure. Taylor Lautner tries to be so mature and adult here. Maybe that's what's missing.
