Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Dan T — 10 Jun 2007
My all time favorite film. Cassavetes is the master of realism. He consistently brings out the best in his actors by inserting pieces of himself into their performances. His use (or lack thereof) of camera is simply amazing in that at times he makes the camera completely disappear.
He is one of the most unobtrusive directors to ever live. He lets his actors act and boy did they do that here. Rowlands and Falk give two of the best performances ever captured on the screen. You will be hard-pressed to find a truer more beautiful film than this.
